Erin's Law Opt-Out Letter

Dear Parents,

The law referred to as “Erin’s Law,” requires that age-appropriate sexual abuse and assault prevention education be addressed on our campus.  During the month of April, students in grades Pre-K through 2nd will receive a classroom-based lesson educating children about the danger of sexual abuse.

The lesson will be centered around Jon Holsten’s book, The Swimsuit Lesson.  This book uses very age-appropriate, kid-friendly language and pictures.  The lesson will be presented tactfully with the ages and maturity of the children in mind.  The book, The Swimsuit Lesson, will be available for parent preview in the office from 3:30-4:15 daily until April 1, 2019.

If you do NOT wish your child to participate in this lesson, please sign the statement at the bottom of this letter, and return it to the school office. If we do not hear from you, we will assume your child has permission to participate in this lesson. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

Thank you for partnering with us as we continue to provide learning opportunities to improve the safety and well-being of our students.

Raven Behrens

Brown Primary School Counselor

Please return to the school office by April 1, 2019.

I do NOT give permission for my child to participate in the Erin’s Law classroom-based lesson.
