Welcome to Brown Primary!
My name is Sarah Vinkarek and this will be my fifteenth year working for Smithville ISD. I attended all Smithville ISD schools before graduating from Smithville High School in 1999. I earned a Bachelor in Arts in Political Science degree from Southwest Texas State University in 2002, a Master in Education in School Counseling degree from Lamar University in 2013 and a Master in Education in Administration from The University of Texas in Arlington in 2017. I taught Third Grade at Smithville Elementary for five years before serving as School Counselor at both Smithville Elementary (2 years) and Smithville High School (six years). Last year I served as the Assistant Principal at Smithville Junior High, and this year I am so excited to be joining the Brown Primary campus as Assistant Principal!
My husband and I have four children, three of which currently attend Smithville ISD schools and the youngest will begin Pre-K next year. We enjoy spending time together hunting, fishing, and attending numerous sporting events that our children are involved in. Even though we don't reside in the City of Smithville, we have strong ties to the school and the community and will always consider this "home".
As we begin this school year, I'm reminded of the time I spent here as a student more than 35 years ago. I've always remembered Brown Primary as a magical place where I learned various foundational skills, built long-lasting friendships, developed a true respect for teachers and other educational professionals, and gained the confidence and desire to succeed. Now that I'm back, I can see that the magic still exists and that our staff members are committed to providing the same type of experience for your children! We are also committed to working with you, the parents, and hope that you find this school year filled with positive, meaningful collaboration and interactions. I look forward to getting to know you and your child! It's going to be a great year!!
