Principal - Dr. Westerfield

My name is Dr. Angie Westerfield, and I am truly honored to be chosen to lead Brown Primary School beginning in the 2025–2026 school year. As a dedicated and experienced educational leader with over thirty years in public education, I am excited to join the Smithville ISD community and serve our students, families, and staff.
I hold both a Doctorate in Educational Leadership (2023) and a Master’s degree from Texas Tech University, along with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Sam Houston State University, earned in 1990. I spent 21 fulfilling years teaching grades 4–8 before moving into school administration, where I have proudly served for the past 13 years. My leadership is rooted in a deep commitment to student achievement, staff growth, and building strong, collaborative school communities.
Outside of my professional life, I enjoy spending time with my two adult children who live in Elgin and New Braunfels, my only grandson, and my mother, who resides in Cistern, Texas. I recently married, and my husband and I are currently building our dream home on seven acres between Flatonia and Cistern. I love home design, shopping, and traveling.
I love to laugh and believe that laughter truly is the best medicine. Even on the hard days, I choose happiness and bring a positive, joyful spirit to my work. It’s this mindset that helps me connect with students, staff, and families—and reminds me daily why I love what I do. I am especially looking forward to bringing my energy, enthusiasm, and experience to Brown Primary.
I can’t wait to meet each of you and discover how I can best support and serve you. Let’s make this a fantastic year together!
